In December, Pastor Greg will walk us through a prophecy, written by Isaiah, 700 years before Jesus’ birth. In it, Isaiah reveals four descriptive names or titles for the Messiah. Pastor G unpacks each name, one week at a time. This week is WEEK FOUR: Prince of Peace!

Rejoice in the Lord always! I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. ~ Philippians 4:4-7
But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; He is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom His favor rests.” ~ Luke 2:10-14
THREE WAYS CHRIST FULFILLS HIS TITLE “PRINCE OF PEACE”
1) Jesus makes peace possible between humans and God.
Here I am! I’m standing at the door to your heart and I am knocking, calling out to you, hoping you will hear My voice and my knock. If anyone hears Me knocking and calling out and opens the door of your heart to Me, I will come into your life and begin a relationship of love, peace and purpose with you. ~ Revelation 3:20 (GSPV)
FOUR LIFE-CHANGING PRINCIPLES OF THE GOSPEL
PRINCIPLE 1) God loves you and has a wonderful plan for your life.
PRINCIPLE 2) Because of our sin, we are separated from God. We cannot know and experience God’s love and plan for our life.
PRINCIPLE 3) Jesus Christ is God’s only provision for man’s sin. Only through Him can you know and experience God’s love and plan for your life.
Our Abba, Daddy God, loves you so much, and wanted a relationship with you so much, that He sent Jesus to to become your sin and remove it by dying on the cross. If you recognize that and accept what Jesus did for you and who Jesus is, and if you open the door of your heart to Him, He will become your connection to God and guide you into eternal life when this life is done. ~ John 3:16 (GSPV)
PRINCIPLE 4) We must individually receive Jesus Christ as our Savior and Lord; then we can know and experience God’s love and plan for our lives.
Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God… You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. ~ Romans 5:1-2, 6-8
2) Jesus makes peace possible in our life despite our trials.
Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.” – Philippians 4:8-9
3) Jesus makes PERFECT AND PERMANENT PEACE POSSIBLE when He comes again.
Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away. ~ Revelation 21:3-4
