Pastor Greg shares a message inspired by the ‘Ōlelo Hawai’i word Alaka’i which refers to a leader or the act of leadership.
Today’s ‘Ōlelo Hawai’i word is Alakaʻi. Alaka’i is used as both a verb and a noun in ‘Ōlelo Hawai’i. When used as a noun it means “leader.” When used as a verb it means “leading; the act of leadership.”

~ Mark 8:36-37
Then the mother of the sons of Zebedee came to Jesus with her sons, bowing down and making a request of Him. And He said to her, “What do you wish?” She said to Him, “Command that in Your kingdom these two sons of mine may sit one on Your right and one on Your left.” But Jesus answered, “You do not know what you are asking. Are you able to drink the cup that I am about to drink?” They said to Him, “We are able.” He said to them, “My cup you shall drink; but to sit on My right and on My left, this is not Mine to give, but it is for those for whom it has been prepared by My Father.” And hearing this, the ten became indignant with the two brothers. ~ Matthew 20:20-24
They came to Capernaum; and when He was in the house, He began to question them, “What were you discussing on the way?” But they kept silent, for on the way they had discussed with one another which of them was the greatest. Sitting down, He called the twelve and said to them, “If anyone wants to be first, he shall be last of all and servant of all.” Taking a child, He set him before them, and taking him in His arms, He said to them, “Whoever receives one child like this in My name receives Me; and whoever receives Me does not receive Me, but Him who sent Me.” ~ Mark 9:33-37
You can have everything in life you want, if you will just help other people get what they want. ~ Zig Ziglar
Jesus called them [the disciples] together and said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be your slave—just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.” – Matthew 20:25-28
