Pastor Greg shares four resolutions that Moses made – recounted in Hebrews 11 – that profoundly changed his life for the better. If you will make these four resolutions and depend on God to help you, your life will radically improve.
This is week 4: PERSEVERED
By faith Moses, when he was born, was hidden for three months by his parents, because they saw he was a beautiful child; and they were not afraid of the king’s edict. By faith Moses, when he had grown up, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter, choosing rather to endure ill-treatment with the people of God than to enjoy the temporary pleasures of sin, considering the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures of Egypt; for he was looking to the reward. By faith he left Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king; for he persevered, as though seeing Him who is unseen. ~ Hebrews 11:23-27
In this passage, we can see that Moses made four resolutions.
1) I refuse to be defined by others.
2) I choose short-term pain for long-term gain.
3) I Consider God’s Values Greater Than The World’s Values.
4) I Choose To Live By Faith Rather Than By Fear.
You are from God, little children, and have overcome [all fearful things]; because because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world. ~ 1 John 4:4
And do not be afraid of those who kill the body but are unable to kill the soul; but rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. . ~ Matthew 10:28
By faith he left Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king; for he persevered, as though seeing Him who is unseen. ~ Hebrews 11:27
… looking only at Jesus, the originator and perfecter of the faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. ~ Hebrews 12:2
The closer you get to God, the less fear you’re going to have in your life. The further you get away from God, the more you’re going to be filled with fear. That’s just the way His universe works.
And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for the one who comes to God must believe that He exists, and that He proves to be One who rewards those who seek Him. ~ Hebrews 11:6
You want something to change in your life? Stop complaining and start believing. God is not moved by complaints. God is moved by faith. Faith is the confidence that God is exactly who He says He is and that He will do everything He has promised to do! There is a lot to be fearful of in our world but there is nothing to fear if you have God on your side. It all works out in your favor in the end. There will be some tough times between now and then, eventually even your death, but it still all works out in your favor in the end. Now, we all know that KEEPING resolutions is a whole lot harder than MAKING them.
Two Ways To Keep Your Resolutions
1) Get support. You need to get support from a small group. You’re probably going to have a crisis in 2021. The likelihood of you going through the next three hundred sixty-five days without a single crisis of any kind is pretty rare. I highly recommend that you put the support system of an Aloha Group (Small Group) in place BEFORE the crisis happens.
… and let’s consider how to encourage one another in love and good deeds, not abandoning our own meeting together, as is the habit of some people, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near. ~ Hebrews 10:24-25
2) Ask and expect God to help.Expect is a prayer of faith.Expect God to help.
For the Lord God helps Me, Therefore, I am not disgraced; Therefore, I have made My face like flint, And I know that I will not be ashamed.~ Isaiah 50:7
He persevered because he saw Him who is invisible. ~ Hebrews 11:27
You can only accomplish the impossible if you see the invisible. Live your life with your focus on eternity and PERSEVERE!
